a rare one of a kind pottery piece by listed artist Adelaide Paul. the “tea pot” has a handle and spout but is solid, featuring two wheels and a biomorphic shape. a figure painted alongside the body of work is visible from both sides and the top at various angles.

condition: near pristine, no chips or cracks, light scuffing on bottom.
ABOUT ADELAIDE PAUL
Adelaide Paul was born January 17, 1961 in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. She lived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 1963 to 1969 and spent the remainder of her formative years in South Orange, New Jersey. Paul earned a BEA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University (Summa Cum Laude) and received her MEA in studio art from Louisiana State University in 1996.
She explores the relationships among animals and humans through her work. "Animals are anthropomorphized in film, fiction and popular culture," she said in a statement. "They land their requisite accessories) are hot commodities; like all commodities, they are also disposable."
Having taught anatomy to veterinary students for eight years as associate director of the anatomy lab at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Paul has an intimate understanding of animal forms. "What strikes me the most, however, is not how different other animals are from us human animals, but how very similar," said Paul. "I seek to pose questions to the viewer regarding these consumer/consumed/consummated relationships by juxtaposing found and fabricated objects evoking multiple possibilities as to just who is consumed."
She has be exhibited widely with Garth Clark Gallery (NY), Baltimore Clayworks (MD), DEAN Project (NY), and the Wexler Gallery (PA). Her work is included in many private collections through out the United States.
