…likely a one of a kind piece… this antique museum-worthy transferware tankard circa 1802 with three staple repairs, is quite unique and amazing, surviving of 225 years, as found. see further notes below including photos for condition references.

About the imagery; the French Revolutionary Wars & The Treaty of Amiens Pearlware tankard, circa 1802. The image is supposedly ‘Britania’s Triumph on the Restoration of Peace Plenty attending the Blessing of Peace’. The transfer printed decoration depicts Britannia, riding in a lion-drawn carriage holding medallion portraits of George III (George III For ever’) and Napoleon Bonaparte (‘Down with Bonaparte’).

The Peace, or Treaty, of Amiens was signed in March 1802 by France, Britain, Spain and the Netherlands to end the war with Revolutionary France. The peace lasted for only fourteen months until the Napoleonic Wars commenced in 1803.
